On Being A Nerd

To forgo
time-stealing,
uncreative,
social rules.

To gain fulfilment
from investigation
and clean creation
by a strict logic.

The dirt is in life, not thought;
in dreams and wishes, not action.
Age and experience accumulate
along with wealth and social status,

and realisation that complex human interaction
arises from the chaos of simpler animal needs.

The "how" remains a mystery, until reason is
discarded, and instincts are acknowledged,

then one joins society.
The intellect relaxes,

the cash flows.
Until time's doom

pulls all
apart.
